It was with shock and sadness that we heard of the passing of a great supporter of the George Henry White Center. A memorial service was held in honor of his life at the center on Friday, August 5, 2022, attended by family and friends.
Forester Adolphus Spaulding passed on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Columbus Regional Healthcare Center, Whiteville, NC. Forester Spaulding served in the Army Corps of Engineers in a Construction Battalion in Germany. He learned the language and fell in love and married a German citizen, and together they had two wonderful children, Kerstin Mari Spaulding and Alexander Spaulding. After his many years living overseas, he returned to North Carolina.
Forester's construction skills were essential to completing several important projects. Following the outstanding rebuild of the front porch by Bay Leaf Builders, Forester painted the entire structure to preserve the wood from weather and to blend the new construction with the existing colors of the center. Then, he painstakingly installed both a subfloor and new vinyl flooring in the smaller office room, to enable that space to become usable for programs and services. He installed doors, and helped install the electronic whiteboard, and painted the remodeled rear pantry. He also painted the foundation, the front step elements, and several other areas of the project. He is survived by his two children, Kerstin and Alexander, siblings, Alma Spaulding, Betty Smith, Roudolph, David and Johnathan Spaulding.
